Description
Renato Gamba Maxim Express Sidelock Ejector Double Rifle, .458 Winchester Magnum. One look at the magnificent Bulino Engraving and you will know why Torcoli is considered to be one the worlds top engravers. The Big Five engraving features an Elephant scene on the left lock, Lion scene on the right lock, a Rhino on rhe floor plate, a Buffalo on the trigger guard and a Leopard on the trapdoor steel grip cap. The full coverage engraving flows over the extended top and lower tangs and is topped off with gold bands on the breech ends of the 25" Chopper Lump barrels. The rifle is stocked in beautiful European Walnut with figure in the butt section and the strength of straight grain in the wrist and lock areas. The pistol grip cheek piece stock with a skeleton case colored steel butt plate and the beavertail forend feature 24 LPI hand checkering. Double triggers with an artictulated front trigger. Automatic ejectors. Express rear sight with one leaf standing and three folding. The Renato Gamba name and manufacture date of AD 1994 are inlayed in gold on the barrels. This rifle is pictured on the cover of Gamba's 1998 250th Anniversary Catolog. This may be one of only 2 Maxim Express rifles in the country, the other was produced for Safari Club Int. and sold at auctio during the 1989 convention for $75,000.00. The engraving alone on this irreplaceable work of art would likely cost $75000.00 to $100000.00 today with total replacement cost in excess of $125000.00. Shipping cost and method to be determined.
